An Alagoan from Lagoinha, this artist started making replicas of Rio São Francisco’s boats, and then proceeding to make unique pieces, with exceptional creativity. He develops his work using wood such as mulungu and imburana, from the Northeastern arid back-country where he lives. Aberaldo’s imagery is vast: birds, heads on branches, Padre Cíceros, little monks and figures with larges eyes, painted with black ink. Some interpreted the heads he creates with special originality as symbolic of healed body parts, and others as self-portraits. He has had his works exposed in Milan.
