Pernambucan Geraldo de Andrade began painting in 1964. Was stressed and won a contest to go to Rio de Janeiro, where he spent most of his life. There has won several awards and has participated in several exhibitions.
The brothers Geraldo Andrade and Tarcisio Andrade, local musicians stand out for their originality and total mastery of composition, color and technique. Today his work is known throughout Brazil and abroad, mainly in New York, Spain and Portugal which has a large collection. Geraldo Andrade exhibit their work in several museums in Brazil, in 1993 won the top award in their state, “Press Trophy” as the best painter in the Northeast. Now lives in Olinda, with his wife and three children. His pieces tell stories and give rise to different interpretations. Using parts of windows and doors of demolition, it creates jagged shapes and castings that surprised by the beauty and originality. Figures may be biblical, folk or popular, all children and rescuing rich traditions of popular Brazilian folklore.
