Manoel Santos was born in 1965, in Goiânia, where he presently lives. From childhood, he has been interested in artistic creation, especially in drawing, and as he says “there was no other way for me”. He is self-taught but had access to art materials when he was a live model in an Art University, where he also was a cleaning man. The works of Picasso and Leonardo da Vinci particularly fascinate him. He has been participating in collective exhibits ever since 1984, having held shows in Goiânia, Brasília and São Paulo. In 2006, he took part in the Bienal Naïfs do Brasil in Piracicaba. He has held four individual exhibits in 1989, 1990, 1993 and 2006. He was awarded several prizes, among them First Place in the “Pequenos Formatos” contest and the SESI First Prize, both of them in Goiânia. The works of Manoel Santos have been chosen by the curator and critic Fábio Magalhães for the “Sunny Outlook” Galeria Pontes opening show.
