The artist Maria José Batista is paraense and self-taught. She has a history of struggle and perseverance in the art having the greatest stimulus to the interior and professional growth. As a child he learned to like the brushes and paints with his father, artist who encouraged her daughter to follow in discovering the magic of painting. Adult, had to work as a maid to support her children, but the desire to paint never faded, even in the most difficult and desperate times. With the start of the courses in Curro Velho Foundation, hope to follow an artistic career became increasingly close to reality and the confirmation of a new life in it was rekindled. With simple lines depicts scenes from everyday folk, particularly the Acampamento, where he resides neighborhood. Currently, gives workshops and worked in preparing Mardi Gras Curro Velho Foundation for children in the village of Barge community.
